Contains a brief summary of Lewis's experiences during the war. Details his training period in the states, including a stint on the office staff of Eisenhower's surgeon. Includes a description of his duties as a medic in Europe, for which service he was rewarded the Bronze Star. Collection also includes Lewis's membership card in the National World War II Memorial Society. Also contains a photocopied newspaper article, with an accompanying picture, detailing the atrocities committed by retreating German troops at Gardelegen. Includes two commendations from Major General Gillem congratulating the XIII Corps on their bravery and skill. Contains eleven photocopied photographs, with an accompanying explanation, and other miscellaneous photographs showing Lewis during training, performing his medic duties, driving in Paris, and with fellow soldiers. Notable among the photographs displays the American forces meeting their Russian counterparts in Germany.

Lewis served in the U.S. Army, Medical Department, from 1941-1945 during World War II. He was assigned to the Headquarters Company XIII Corps as Chief Clerk and achieved the rank of master sergeant.
